Abstract

A journey into the mythical Tintagel unfolds through the legendary landscapes of King Arthur and the traditions of science fiction, weaving a contemporary folkloric tale that transcends any specific era or ideology. Tintagel, perched on Cornwall’s rugged cliffs, is steeped in myth and history, with its iconic castle often cited as King Arthur’s birthplace. The dramatic ruins, linked to Geoffrey of Monmouth’s medieval writings, and Merlin’s Cave, a sea cave associated with the legendary wizard, lend the site a mystical aura. This enchanting setting, with its craggy cliffs, moors, and hidden coves, is intricately explored through visual narratives.

Janusauskas-designed dresses, crafted from silk and delicate lace, elevate the storytelling with their sensual elegance, creating a bridge between myth and contemporary artistry. Artists like Andreas Waldschuetz and Adia Trischler delve into this timeless allure, with Waldschuetz’s dreamlike, futuristic visuals and Trischler’s surrealist and culturally rich works capturing Tintagel’s enigmatic charm. Together, their explorations celebrate the fusion of history, myth, and elevated sensual storytelling.
