The Missing Men are not located in a geographical region in this world, but rather in a space within the masculine world at large; it is not a hierarchical order consisting of fathers and sons but rather a horizontal space where men like the Munshi, The Genie of the Lamp or Borat exist.
Seeing these masculinities through the subjective “non-Oriental” lens demolishes stereotypes and opens doors for diversity and tolerance. This project aims to put forward and open a space for masculinities to exist that were and are subordinated and feminized by the dominant world cultures through legends, myths, and lies.
